A Triolet Poem: Harvest Coming

Monday Poetry Prompt #15: Just Give it a Tri…olet!

“A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital letters representing the repeated lines.”

Oh my, now this is different!

Harvest Coming

As the days of summer wane
The time comes soon we’ll reap the harvest
Through lovely friends, I obtain
As the days of summer wane
Enrichment, love – relief from pain
I cultivate, my inner artist
As the days of summer wane
The time comes soon we’ll reap the harvest

    • I wrote it early this morning, then scheduled it…then later re-read it…rewrote some of the lines…updated…went to get some housework done…re-read it…re-wrote it re-updated…I’d never have thought that such an easy form could be so complicated…I rarely have to re-write a poem!

        • Know what you mean…time is of the essence for me too…write now I’m trying to write a Ballad for SKA prompts and it is not going at all well… 😦

          • Ach..you’re under a lot of pressure right now…maybe you need to get up and walk around a little…editing can be a pain…seems the more you edit the more you have to edit…the the promotion too!

          • Ah..now that is more difficult I think. Having deadlines drives me up a wall…and when one lives with other’s it’s not always possible to have real calm time.

          • Far too true. I don’t even have real deadlines. I just want to get some progress and a few pages isn’t real progress considering the mountain I’m climbing. Next week will be worse too because this is the last week of school for my son until September. Bye-bye free time.
