Free Verse: Cardboard Hearts

In a world
of artificial food
and plastic sentiments
everything always new
even my toilet paper
the same one I’ve use
for twenty years.
Not surprising,
in a world of synthetic words,
hyped-up publicity,
of cinema illusions
and cheap fiction
there are
cardboard hearts
that melt
when the first drops of rain
during emotional storms
fall.

    • Want to elaborate that better…had the most delightful poem in my head whilst cleaning the kitchen walls over the cooker yesterday…ran to write the words in my note book by the computer…cardboard hearts…but when it came time to write it later, I’d lost most of it…will try it again.
