Thursday Poetry Prompt – Clichés: A Sekhmet Rant

Prompt: Think of a cliché.  Seriously.  Think of something overused in the literary arts, something like “It was a dark and stormy night.”  Now, take that cliché and rewrite it!  Form a poem over it.  Not just any kind of poem, though.  This week, the form will be the Minute Poem.

Minute Poetry is a three stanza rhyme of 12 lines and 60 syllables.  The meter and rhyme are as follows:

8, 4, 4, 4 / 8, 4, 4, 4 / 8, 4, 4, 4

a, a, b, b / c, c, d, d / e, e, f, f

A Man or a Mouse, Sekhmet’s Reply

Are you a man or a mouse? Well!
Blast you to hell!
I’m Sekhmet, Cat!
Goddess at that!

Mightiest warrior and female too!
Neither of the two
mice or men are
are up to par!

The courage of women, renowned…
we have thus found,
both mice and men
lacking, Amen!
