From Dungeon Prompts Week Six:
*Write a short story, poem, or share a picture or song that represents mortality to you.
Do not untimely mourn
Though I see your smile daily glow,
These days will pass-by all too soon,
Leaving an emptiness to grow,
Within me ’til I too shall swoon,
Alas, ’tis the fate of humans born…
But wait! Look at autumn’s full moon!
Do not shed tears, untimely mourn,
Sing now with me a living tune.
Ah so sweet this is. The heaviness of the subject is conveyed in such a sweet way. thank you for being a part of Dungeon Prompts, and for spreading the word. I really appreciate that. And thank you for adding such a beautiful poem
Thanks Sreejit for your encouragement! I’ve been negligent in reading my reader and notifications or I would have partipated earlier, this was a great prompt.

I love the title to this, the time element of mortality is well placed throughout and the last line soothes the now for the coming future.
Love this. So melancholic in its message not to mourn, one cannot help but mourn a little with a sad song of the living, and your poem feels like this song. Beautiful.
Must have been the morning…or the prompt, but me in a somber reflective mood.
The picture combined with the poem is so powerful and touching. Thanks.
really enjoyed this Bastet… really nice to see you tackle the Huitain… one of my preferred forms…
It’s a beautiful style I agree, like it’s song like quality.
Very lovely thought, beautifully expressed too
Thank you for your comment.
What I love about this is the Bastet-twist at the finish — contemplating mortality and finding life and hope there. Really, really nice!
Thanks Barb…I just can’t seem to stay totally serious…most of my poems write themselves, I mean I have an idea of where I want to go when I start out, but then zap! all of a sudden i find myself somewhere else. I’m glad you liked and enjoyed it.
