TV is such a delicious poison. Sigh. Too much Food Network for me. I feel guilty reading your poem, but the guilt never lasts long. ๐

ROFL…I didn’t intend being moralistic about TV…it has two syllables whereas video games has three…”passive entertainment” was impossible! I wrote a choka for the silly lamp-post on the poet’s corner ๐

TV is addictive, but it does seem to be losing its appeal with me. Even the shows that I like are becoming background noise. I wonder if people simply grow out of it eventually if they find something else to spend their time on.

Your conclusion is probably very close to the answer. In a world where people depend passively on being entertained and take no responsability in creating or actively participating in passing their time, i think, tv, video games etc become very addictive indeed.

Video games is a tough one. I grew up on them, but they hold more participation than TV. Maybe it’s just how my friends and I played them, but we would get together to play them together. Taking turns and multi-player modes were how we spent the time. Those that weren’t playing simply joked around and talked.
