Kyrielle: Yesterdays

Arco's Castle

Kyrielle

Yesterdays

I wander through this lonely life,
Full of terror and daily strife,
And then I look back in a daze,
Looking for my lost yesterdays.

I ask here does time really flow?
I’m not sure if I really know.
I look upon these passing ways,
Looking for my lost yesterdays.

The Zen master taught with a bow:
“Time is an illusion says Tao.”
I uselessly sharpen my gaze,
Looking for my lost yesterdays.

I looked in the mirror and hey!
My head is now crowned in light grey.
My days pass me by in replays,
Looking for my lost yesterdays.

So if time is an illusion.
Arthritis just a delusion.
I’ll dance and sing in cabarets,
Looking for my lost yesterdays!

Well, I think it’s philosophy,
Not really gerontology,
Far better than writing essays,
Looking for my lost yesterdays.

A rhyme that’s about passing time,
I prefer to ranting on crime.
Illusion or not rot decays,
Looking for my lost yesterdays.

I think right now just for starters,
I’ll ban those government farters!
No past so ’tis a useless phrase:
Looking for my lost yesterdays.

    • A little reflection on philosophy and reality. So often it’s said you cannot cross the same river twice, and that yesterdays and tomorrow are in fact an illusion…so I decided just to play with that idea. By the way, I do think that the here and now is the best place to live. 🙂

  1. This is fantastic! Really well constructed Kyrielle with wonderful rhymes and progression of ideas. Absolutely loved it. Beaver tails dipped in peanut butter for you! Reowr!

    • Oooo! Love those beaver tails…thanks ever so much! Unlike when I usually do a poem, this one took a bit of working on, so the appreciation is so much more appreciated!
