Quatern: blackbird song

Quatern

Blackbird Song

I heard a blackbird sing his song,
I must confess I was perplexed,
For blackbirds sing out in the spring!
Whatever could this singing mean.

I looked out from my window high.
I heard a blackbird sing his song.
Spied I there on the chimney top,
A baby blackbird practicing!

The clouds had made the day quite warm.
Warble did the laddy brightly!
I heard a blackbird sing his song.
And lo he did sing quite sweetly!

Though now the season turns to grey,
The birds thought it was spring today.
And sang they as their hearts were gay.
I heard a blackbird sing his song.
