Dawn

Walking down the lonely beach, the first light of dawn coloring the sky, the sound of the lapping waves calming her, Mariel reflected.

He’d seemed to be the one. In her thoughts she walked with him along the beach.  She remembered his smell, the color of his hair the softness of his voice. She remembered his caresses, how he could arouse her to the very height of passion and take her another step further, into the bliss of paradise!

Oh, how he could bring out the best in her, how he inspired her.

She remembered the laugher, the tears, then the arguments and his cruelty.

Oh, how he could bring her down, how he’d nearly destroyed her.

Now,  he was gone. She consigned his memory to the sea.
