I do so love Frizz’s blog Flickr Comments and each Tuesday he offers a challenge: “Every Tuesday I offer the “A to Z challenge”, walking step by step through the alphabet.”
On January 7th 2014 the challenge picked up on “A” again…
A Bastet Quatrain for Frizz
Of animals and minerals I write,
And anything else that’ll come to mind
As I sit here thinking in nursery rhymes
And of yucky awful alphabet soup!
I wrote a somber Alexandrine poem
I accidentally popped into cyber space
For I right-clicked glue on my silly mouse …
When I really should have copied! Et voilà!
Amazing what fate can do
When least we expect it…
The poem was of angst…
That was in fact the title.
It was a really heady thing…
That is it was quite cerebral
If you ask me to be honest
I think it’s better where it’s at.
Alas, alas…oh woe is me!
I’ve no “A” poem to write for Frizz!
So I’ll just hang my head down and say…
I’ll write an acrostic..some other day!
For the Alexandrine, took me over an hour
It’s a poem consisting of 6 iambic feet…
uhm…with caesura…but few use it in English at all
Emily Brontë being an exception….’cause it’s
Bloody stilted and should only be read and written in French!
So I invented this quatrain for Frizz
It’s a iambic misch-mash and that’s for sure
Some 6, 8 and 10 foot iamb without rhyme
I’m making it up as I go along!
