Fickle Eros

Thus, the sweet song ends,
Never shall we meet again.
What was a passionate ode,
Has now become a tragedy!
This is the way of fickle Eros,
Now, you’ll be just a memory.

“This week we’re asking for exactly 33 of your own words about love gone wrong. But we’re asking that you not use any of the following words:

love
sad
tears
wept
heart
pain

  1. Here’s my attempt.
    ***
    So I leave first.
Point my car to compass north,
    Miles rolling a glorious wallow
Misery. Chocolate. Country radio. Snot. Caffein.
Tissues, heartbreak, cups drift his empty seat.
    Actually… so fun. Who knew?

    12 Feb 2014 – midair disaster

    main chutes deploying,
    landing in the selfsame field.
    hid under haystacks,
laughter, wine, and open thighs –
    until the morning,
    shaking hands we headed home.

    Trifecta: Living With Volcanoes

    living
    with
    volcanoes from
    your childhood, well,
    you learn
    to
    listen.

    always
    an
    awareness of
    the slightest shifts,
    your breath
    kept
    shallow.

    life
    spent
    struggling to
    stay awake for
    that inevitable
    next
    eruption.

    • This is interesting! So, on writes the stanzas using eleven words: 1,1,2,3,2,1,1…. I’m going to have to try it…sounds explosive! 😉 I think I’ll do a prompt maybe over at the 13th Floor…thanks Gary!
