A Walk in Paris

Julienne was not happy.  The day was wet and even Paris seemed to be less than its usual magical self. They walked along the rainy plaza below the Eiffel Tower.

“Hey! Look up!  The snow has finally melted…the flowers are blooming.  We need the rain for the wine and well, everything!” her friend Margo said, almost twittering like a bird.

Julienne looked at her and sighed.  No doubt about it, she was in a blue funk.

“Don’t you realize that my book sales are completely off.  No one seems to want to read anything I write lately.” she nearly howled.

“Don’t worry, it’s just that the book sales are just in a funk now.  Nobody’s selling much.  Keep working on your booklet of ‘Poems for Spring’, I’m sure it’ll sell like hot cakes!  The illustrations are fantastic!”

“I don’t think I’m going to be able to finish it on time.” Julienne sighed.

“Oh come on!  You’ve got to snap out of this mood!  Whatever is the matter?  You were so enthusiastic just yesterday!”

Julienne’s phone rang.

“Yes….” There was a long pause as she listened.  Then she moved away from Margo to continue her conversation.

A few minutes later, Julienne returned another person entirely.

“Let’s go over to my place, you can be my sounding board as I put together those last poems before sending my manuscript off!” she said, almost twittering like a bird.

“I don’t even have to ask…that was Maurizio on the phone, right.”

“Why, yes it was.  Isn’t Paris beautiful in the springtime!” she said as she smiled onto the rainy plaza.

        • Which one, The Piaf or Mireille Mathieu? I love how the great Piaf sings…her autumn leaves accompanied me through my childhood! Mathieu also has such a sexy voice!

          • Well…now I didn’t know that about Piaf…She had the greatest voice that’s for sure! Celine Dion doesn’t say much to me either. I don’t know the other two singers you talking about here, so I’ll look them up on Youtube!
