Gloaming (and a Surprise Visit) – Morning Haiku and Waka – October 4, 2014

sunset

flaming skies
then the gloaming dusk
bats play catch

falling darkness
first lights stream from the houses
welcoming warmth

dusk gloams
looming mysteriously
the valley darkens

ah!  on my loggia
I turn ever so slowly
sweet little sparrow
your high-pitched happy greeting
makes this morning’s dawn perfect

(It hasn’t been since May that a sparrow has landed on my loggia … whilst my husband was in hospital a sparrow used to drop by every morning and chirp at me, then she/he/they stopped dropping by.  I was able to take his photograph one morning, not a good one but here it is againanyway 🙂 .  It was so nice to see the little mite here this morning.)
