Magically lit the path,
Marriage he’d propose, since
Mad in love was he … but
Mary had gone away
Meaning ne’er to return …
Marduk said morosely:
“Mysterious is love!”
His heart was destroyed!
Overcome
And Depressed …
Until he saw young Sybil
Walking on the beach …)
i really like the wording of the poem. You take a simple phrase and make it sound so much powerful. Lovely writing!
Sincerely,

Even Gods have trouble getting it right sometimes! But it looks like Marduk is the sort of chap who will take the plunge and try again. Someone will surely take him up on his offer, he is the favorite deity of Babylon, after all, and that must count for something!

Ah yes … I’m sure that Marduk will have no problems of finally finding a suitable match … being a diety of course helps … Mary wasn’t really very suitable for him.

There strikes a familiar cord somewhere… but even after reading through the info – he is a tad difficult for me to place.
I am sure though I have seen that first image before.
Going to go back and have a re-read of your piece 🙂

No problem … the name came to mind and I used it … it actually has nothing to do with the Babylonian god 😉

Earthshakes reminds me — a spate of “earth shakes” in Ohio lately — brought on by — fracking! Minor ones, but scary stuff, really. o.O

Don’t talk to me about them either … two years ago we were having them rather often … when I waas in Padua with my sis, we had one and everyone ran out of the hotel … as it was early morning most people were still in their pj’s … sometimes it’s good to be an early riser.
