Murder on the Strand (Kyrielle Sonnet and Shadorma)
This Cenotaph of marble bright
Reminds me of her lover’s plight –
Whilst on a slope in a strange land
He met his death at murder’s hand.
He’d gone to feast one evening,
‘T’was with his neighbor, reveling.
From the merry crunch on the Strand
He met his death at murder’s hand.
Invisible – enameled knife sunk
To the hilt into his poor trunk
Though t’was a mistake and unplanned
He met his death at murder’s hand.
Lichen cover this Cenotaph –
He met his death at murder’s hand.
Minstrel call:
“Dismiss not this tale,
Give a coin …
Recede not …
My songs are my currency
And each word is pure gold.”

What an amazing poem…you must be awesome at scrabble…no I am not…nor crossword puzzles…I am doomed to die of dimentia

How did you guess I was awesome at scrabble? I play it both in Italian and English … alas the family won’t play with me any more though … I always win. 😦 But the way you write I really don’t think you’re doomed to dimentia!

I keep thinking since I keep counting sylables maybe that will keep my mind in check

hmmmm … couldn’t say really, they tell me that keeping the mind exercised helps to keep you quick … I think writing in general helps with or without syllables.

I read that doing something out of the ordinary, like walking backwards, dancing for sure, um the math thingees, nope, scrabble, nope, crosswords, nope they make me feel dense but I guess if I don’t try I will get worse than dense:(

well … crosswords are not really my thing .. they can be so confounded obscure .. I do do them sometimes in Italian, but only the ones I can flip to see the answers 🙂

I feel as if I’ve been transported back in time to the middle ages when I read this piece! Send in a cute lute player and a handsome young man to sing us a song, and let folks of all ages and walks of life dance as my friend Mr. Shakespeare and I pen some lively tales!
