linked to  Carpe Diem Haiku Kai – this post is very interesting and covers two aspects of archery … spiritual and the Japanese traditional “New Year’s Arrow” go have a look, in the meantime here are three haiku I found there on the New Year’s arrow:

surechigau gaikokujin no te ni hamaya

in the hand
of a bypassing foreigner …
