Spring concert in 4 movements
a single blackbird
chortles his mating song
and then a challenge
back and forth they sing at dawn
filling the morning with spring
first light of day break
two blackbirds challenge with song
a third adds his voice
back and forth the music goes
nature shames Vivaldi
larks and finches
greet the morning sun
twittering happily
from a blackbird solo
now this vibrant symphony
spring has come
each voice adds it’s counterpoint
ah – life’s symphony
lovelorn song-birds sing their songs
to please their future spouses

single black feather

slithering shapes
lizards run helter-skelter
down the stone walls

i can imagine the joy
if people sang
more like these birds 🙂

The concert imagery works so well here — shaming Vivaldi, indeed!!! It’s beautiful and it brings a smile!
And – um – you have lizards there now?

YES!!! I’ve seen and photographed lizards (they’re wee things right now) yesterday! I’m going to put one up for the ‘nudity’ haiga tomorrow 😉

Farfel is up for tomorrow’s nudity prompt 🙂
Tied to One Word challenge, too — only “mauve” photo I had ANYWHERE.
Lizards! See, this cold-blooded-Yankee just can’t relate to lizards wandering the streets — NAKED, no less! Shameless! 😉

I read it .. and it was cute … I could sympathize with her wanting to get out of that gear!

She hated coats of all kinds — but when her fur was short she needed them, poor old thing.

I can understand her … it’s so binding for them I think. But understandable that she’d need it after a fur cut.

If the coat was too long she’d drag her hind legs like she’d been paralyzed! You didn’t know whether to laugh or be frustrated! LOL

I’m sure she felt that it was sort of silly exchanging her natural coat for the man-made variety!

Besides, it’s less fun to roll in stinky things when Mama can just throw the coat in the wash. 😉

LOL … and the lizards are really shameless!

I’d heard that they can be quite persistent and fearless … so it’s true then? 😛

Well … now this little guy was actually running away from me. I suppose when they get bigger, but for the most part our lizards are a shy lot.

He is kind of cute, in a lizardy sorta way 😛
I may be a bit biased against them after having to deal with the kiddo’s “anoles” for too long. Hated the feeding — we gave them live crickets dusted in this icky vitamin powder. Think “cricket shake-n-bake”. o.O

Yuck! I think I won’t think of cricket shake-n-bake!

It was nasty.
And occasionally we’d get a ‘large’ cricket with the ‘small’ group – and it would sing in the middle of the night. It was an experience 😛

Again … not my cup of tea. For me lizards can stay outside!

Well. The kiddo won lizard #1 at the fair. And we couldn’t say no. Then of course, George was lonely and needed mate. Hence lizard #2. Whose name is lost in the (somewhat powdery) mists of time.
Never again! 😉
