a spring ritual
inside the lotus pond
turtles spawn
walking through the pass
a cuckoo sings its odd song
adopted at birth
that crazy nest-less hermit
never sees the lotus bloom
a passing moment
even as the lotus blooms

Beautiful once again! And I love the dose of humor in the crazy, nest-less hermit! 🙂

Guess who was singing with the cacophonic syncopated symphony this morning. I really should try to record what this place sounds like at 5:30 in the morning, you wouldn’t believe it!

We’ll swap recordings! It’s been **insane** here too, with the hedges it’s prime real estate here. Vicious, nasty little fellas too – fighting as much as singing. Even the doves! 😉

Lovely writing, Bastet, I like it because it helps me envision and vicariously experience sights I have either not seen in a long time or ever, such as turtles and lotuses.

Thanks Oloriel for dropping in … the turtle rituals are in full swing right now … though we’d have to wait until summer to see so many of them like in the photo, here they’re pretty grown up. Glad you enjoyed the post.
