Morning Haiku and Waka – Blue Moon – April 29, 2015

once in a blue moon
walking alone in the hills
a nightingale calls
and my heart replies
matching its song note for note
enjoying the notes
the whispering wind joins in
the bird, moon and I
as we look for adventure
welcome the wind’s sigh
how romantic the lights seem
down in the valley …
then illusions fade away
alone I walk on
knowing I’ll soon be back home
where sad reality reigns

illusions and dreams
even the nightingale sighs
when the moon sets

velvet blue sky
moon set in spring
a sliver of light
huffing he complains
the moon disappears

even the birds at dawn
nervously quarrel

a new dawn
with this new day
no new age is born

  1. Oof. Been here too many times. 😦 Always that push-pull, fantasy-reality, hope-despair. But you have to cling to the beauty.

The first portion makes me think of the Cowboy Junkies’ version of “Blue Moon”. com/watch?v=vJ6EGsZdxpE —
