– Menoevil
monarchs danced –
in a fragrant orange grove
culpable of tantalizing
dream birds into oblivion …
ah – this secret garden glows
in the extremity of my soul
from the subtle phosphenes
pinched from behind my eyes …
as I lay supine
I contemplate a scarecrow
saying goodbye to summer.

but hopefully we can also say hello and learn something new.
A wonderfully wordled piece 🙂
I have always like the Scarecrow of OZ. Even before he got his brains, he was smart.

As always, your wordling in magnificent! At the risk of interpreting the poem for anyone stumbling through comments — it reminds me of the gentleman at the end of Soylent Green — his last dream before dying. Peacefully. I really enjoyed this, Bastet 🙂

Excellent job of combining the prompts and finding a way to bring a sense of hope and happiness to a dreary (yet fascinating image) – excellent memory to catch and hold. Really beautiful flow Georgia 🙂

Thanks so much MJ … for some reason when i saw that illustration it reminded me of yes, a scarecrow, but the birds reminded me of butterflies … I’m happy you enjoyed it!

Lovely flowing poem, cara!! you are such a gem with Wordle but what struck me was how you wrote something reflective, whimsical even …I was dark in my response to that image but then again, I think we write in the moment we breath at that very second…it stirs up an idea and we can go with it or resist it. Bonne Fête des mères, ma chère…je souhaite qu’on te gate un tout petit peu…tu le mérites bien xx
