July afternoon
cicadas sing in the trees
I dream of snow
upon a mountain road
white patched trees and lamplight
summer heat
inviting thoughts of winter
as cicadas sing
This photograph was used yesterday for Silent Sunday … yesterday the thermometer hit 32° C. and for the first time this summer the cicadas began to sing. Looking through my archives, I came across this photograph, with a lovely lamp-post in the snow.

I stayed in Tacoma for a month, of course that was over 40 years ago … I would have thought the weather would be mild! But then again we used to have to go out of region to get rea summer temps.

LOL … I agree – but how nice to look at when the temps reach 37° C as today … but yes, this is how I usually prefer my snow 😉

Well … it tried to cool off here this morning … quite a concert with all the booming and crashing of thunder, but didn’t really rain very much and the temps are climbing again.

It did finally rain the evening of the 8th … all night! The temps were down by about 8° yesterday and we had a pleasant breeze. Hopefully it will reach you too!

I can understand that … it seems everybody always remembers the lovely thing of “the other” season when they’re smack dab in the middle of either the icy cold or the fiery 😉

Thanks Janice — yesterday was the turning point (I hope) … the day began with a thunderstorm … drizzling off and on all day, until finally last night it rained for a few hours pulling the temps down. It’s cool this morning and hopefully the rest of the day stays that way!
