Hikage (shade, shadow) – July 7, 2015

blazing summer sun
even birds seek the shadows
as flowers wilt

laying in the shade
cicadas sing their serenades
a single drop of rain

the hammock swings
under the persimmon tree
welcome shade

Carrying

an unwieldy  hammock from Trentino to Padua wasn’t easy … but my son’s pleasure on receiving it made it all worthwhile.

  1. very relaxing post, and what riches to have a persimmon tree around to write about.
Carrying – did you walk with it?

    • Hand luggage on local trains … up and down stairs … but when I arrived in Padua, I took a cab to his house (I usually walk but it was way too hot).
