lush summer flower
blushing pink beside the path
tempting the butterfly
flitting among the blossoms
fanning their passionate dreams
dreaming butterfly
lost in the summer garden
sipping warm nectar
for this monarch’s mighty thirst
peonies open sweetly

My goodness, that painting is huge! ( 1 M by 1 M 50 no less) I did a dainty one on silk which rather pales in comparison 🙂
Your words paint a pretyy picture too. Pity we never see monarchs over here.

so sorry about the typo. I always notice them too late. 😦

not to worry .. one of the problems with commenting is getting them off quickly enough to go to the next read … it’s rather normal for the par to make a typo from time to time.

That painting shouted out to me while I was looking for something to represent the pink peony … really stupendous, though I think a smaller painting would be more suitable for my home use. They’re becoming rather rare over here as well … I don’t think I’ve actually seen one in person in a long long time.

Hm………..there is more and more that meets the eye here….a deep sensuality, I must say.

Ah … as we saw … even a bee in a peony may be more than meets the eye 😉

Aren’t we all seduced by peonies? I’m lucky to have monarch butterflies come to sup at my Zinnias and have had the caterpillars munch my milkweed.

WOW … Georgia what a wonderful post. Your tanka are beautiful both, but your second tanka caught me really … I think the peony is one of the most beautiful flowers I know and only through her beauty, but also through the sensuality it stands for.

Very true … I’d never actually thought much about peonies I have to admit, but the prompt opened a whole new vista … I’m so happy you enjoyed the tanka .. rather out of my normal writing zone.
