tumbling leaves
carpeting the park and streets
in crimson
[that world in red]
floating in muffled silence
lost paradise
warming fire
the licking flames burn red
turning logs black
Christmas tree
decked in red trimmed in white
childhood memories
in her passion
she paints the world red
ocean waves crash
in growing cacophony
– silence

Red would be a difficult color for me to write about — you did wonderful.

Not really my favourite colour either … but one has to begin somewhere 😉 Glad you enjoyed the post.

Really well done, Bastet — a wealth of imagery here! The photo turned out so well, and the final tanka speaks to me. 🙂

That’s actually a very old experiment … but I liked the idea of writing a series of haiku about colours and began with red .. there was a time that I followed a Sunday prompt called paint the town red, so I’ve several of these collages around 😉

Very cool!
Once upon a time I did a series of haiku on colors too … it’s buried deep in the recesses of Bioli. Fun though 🙂
Paint the town red … must have been fun 🙂

Pull them up … might be an interesting reblogged series. Paint the town red was really great fun! Did you understand this haiku:
[that world in red]
floating in muffled silence
lost paradise
?

Yes — at least I think I do — downed leaves as the paradise lost, fallen, muffling all sound. And the feel of the “world of red” gives it an ominous feel. Is that what you had in mind?

I love what you did here, cara! Red means so many different things…that photo is WoW! for lack of a better word and your love the licking flames, crimson carpet and your last …tanka is the image of my dream last night…in French ma grandmère disait, “Bon, mon rêve est effacé”…so I no longer have to wonder why I dreamed of oceans and waves.

Cool .. what a great comment dear. I had a the idea and want to proceed with as many colours as I can … the collage is an old collage I did back in 2013 .. used to do one collage a week for “Paint the Town Red” … a blogger’s prompt. Interesting that the tanka was the image of your dream … really cool!
