On the highway .. I couldn’t drive, cheating time, I snapped photographs – returning home.  Trucks, cars a somnolent village on a hill-side. Snap snap snap. Almost home.  Then to the morgue. Is this broken body him?

broken-winged bird
has flown far from here
[it’s not him]

  1. Gosh – my heart goes out to you at this time. Your haiku brings back feelings that came to me when my husband died many years ago. I felt too that his spirit had flown the body – the body had become a shell that no longer contained the man. His spirit soared to other invisible realms. – much love to you at this traumatic time – Suzanne

  2. Funny how folks get so attached
    to bodies.. even when they
    never use them much..
    but truly the flame
    inside never
    dies.. now
    and that’s
    not left
    in then
    flesh..

    Flame lives
    dies flesh
    live flesh sings flAMe..:)
