On the highway .. I couldn’t drive, cheating time, I snapped photographs – returning home. Trucks, cars a somnolent village on a hill-side. Snap snap snap. Almost home. Then to the morgue. Is this broken body him?

Gosh – my heart goes out to you at this time. Your haiku brings back feelings that came to me when my husband died many years ago. I felt too that his spirit had flown the body – the body had become a shell that no longer contained the man. His spirit soared to other invisible realms. – much love to you at this traumatic time – Suzanne

Thanks Suzanne … that’s it exactly .. his body was there but he was gone. Thanks you for your sympathy but I’m sorry that the write brought back painful memories. Big hugs – Bastet

My husband died many years ago – it is true that time heals the wound. I don’t ache like I did back then but I can certainly relate to how you must be feeling. love – Suzanne

Funny how folks get so attached
to bodies.. even when they
never use them much..
but truly the flame
inside never
dies.. now
and that’s
not left
in then
flesh..
Flame lives
dies flesh
live flesh sings flAMe..:)

Oh Georgia, Georgia. This breaks my heart. So perfectly written — and yet what a difficult write. My heart goes out to you. {huge hug}

Well, I won’t quibble on what a “true” haibun is or isn’t … but I understand what you mean. More hugs where those came from …

Oh you’ve toes the sadness so well into the image.. That distraction of a snaps is so much like it feels when you’re sad.

Thanks Bjorn for your interesting comment … yes, I think that the sadness probably comes through pretty well with that aspect of distracting oneself.
