in this silence
walking through a snow bound field
a frozen red rose
inevitable
the long cold nights of winter
yield to spring
the last leaf
rains down from the ash tree
inescapable
bleak is the sleeping forest
but for the eternal pines
barren branches dressed
in sparkling white winter robes
ash trees and palms
endless cycles
inevitable – changes
inescapable
each sunrise is a new day
each sunset a passing

So many great images, Bastet — the frozen red rose especially. 🙂

Thanks dearest … I guess i should have stopped there, but it seemed that so many images wanted to be conveyed – I just couldn’t resist.

Beautiful lines traced with what sounded like a sad resignation maybe. But it could be the reader…

Well … the subject took me in this direction … plus Chèvrefeuille’s post was all about Ese leaving WordPress and her comment of explanation (inevitable change) and her poem was all mixed up with the fall of a red leaf with a snowflake (which of course probably has oodles of inner meaning .. but I’m rather a literal person at times). I don’t feel particularly sad today .. but you know how the subconscious works – things bubble inside.

Perhaps it was her sadness I was picking up…or, I may have been “having a moment” 🙂

Thanks Suzanne … this is a reflective period for me … I don’t feel particularly sad this morning but writing about inevitable and inescapable kind of puts the ku in that direction … but I did say that spring was inevitable 😉

I got the reflective feeling more than the sadness really. May your spring come early 🙂
