leaves on the ground
a dusty carpet of dreams
fallen

Senryu

kitten sneezes
sniffing the ground pepper mill
curiosity

Kyoka

first snow flakes
melting on the warm ground
winter yet to come
kept at bay by the sunshine
El Niño whispers – Holé

        Forgive me in advance if I go on about this too long.:-)

        Snow-pack:

        Snow-pack is layers of snow that build up at high elevations in mountains during normal winters. Much of the North American west (Canada, USA, Mexico) depends on the the summer melt and run-off from mountain snow-pack to fill rivers and reservoirs for its water supply.

        With recent drought years of dryer and warmer winters (the rain season in the American west) the snow-pack thickness has been less and less. This is said to be caused by global climate change.

        Last spring there was no snow pack.

        So we’re praying for more snow-pack with this winter’s El Niño.
