It’s been traditional in my family that the “man of the house” puts the star on the Christmas tree once it has been completely decorated. Usually we put up our tree on the 8th of December, in Italy that is the Feast of Annunciation of Jesus’ birth to the Virgin. This year, however, I put the tree up later than usual, and am awaiting my son who will arrive tomorrow, the 21st of December, Winter Solstice, to place the star on the tree.

I’m losing steam fast–baked all day yesterday, so that meant no blogging. I’m in a slump–fatigue and pain issues–but expecting to rally by Christmas Eve, when I may do another flurry of baking/cooking…and not give it all away 🙂 I don’t know if you like “Mexican Chocolate”–I had an easy recipe for chocolate fudge with cinnamon, have yet to get the review 🙂

Never tried Mexican Chocolate … sounds interesting though! I did try chocolate with hot peppers and liked that … please recoup a bit – can’t have you out on your feet for Christmas! … I’m probably going to be really sporadic writing myself from today on … I’ve been decorating and christmas shopping – I’ve yet to do the Christmas baking, haven’t been in the mood.

Chocolate with peppers sound wildly interesting–and I’m thinking if you liked that, you’d probably like the cinnamon (you can vary the amount, more subtle or stronger). Maybe I should post the recipe I got from a friend–VERY Easy and quick!

Ah, that is nice to hear that your son has arrive now. My father used to put the star on the tree too. We used to go to mass Dec 8th as well as a child. New Year’s however was where the man of the house was missed most here in Québec, he would bless all his children. My grandmother took over that role (gutsy her:) )

Even this common tradition we have in common … what are these strange ties between us I wonder. Merry Christmas preparations my friend (and good for your Grandmother … she must have been a stupendous woman!)

Oh, she was! Yes, I have you and another blogger/friend where we share many parallels. I`ve met her, now we have to meet some day too.
