Yeah, that ‘om y’all’ gotta remember that.
Especially with more rain, yesterday, today and more this week.
But at least I don’t have to shovel rain.
I used to make home made cards. On year I drew a simple outline and let the young son water color paint over it any and every which way… But I don’t do much in the way of giving or getting holiday cards anymore. I remember my parents sending out hundreds – that is when postage was affordable. Our first class rate is forty-nine cents. I’m not sure if anyone sends out hundreds of cards anymore…

Oh my forty-five cents a card! That’s mind-boggling. Here postage is dear as well and I actually never got into the habit of sending Christmas cards. I guess it’s seen its time. It’s raining here too and has been doing so sin Friday but is expected to taper off and the temps should dip further down. Of course, being used to spring temps makes this sudden cold feel even colder!

The postage is .49 – but more if you send larger cards, and the cost of cards is outrageous too. Even if you got a fancy box of ten or twenty of the same thing.
I worked in a card shop several over ten years ago. A woman came in and got about 20 individual cards all over $2 some more, her hubby didn’t mind the cost but she had to carefully select the right cards for family and friends.
We had our first dusting of snow for the New Year last night.

Yes … card writing is becoming too expensive and I guess it was inevitable .. wonder if the mail service will go the way of the trains in the U.S.
Here it’s really cold and the windscreens are all icy in the morning but no snow.

The US postal service is supposed to be an independent company – but the government keeps putting restrictions on it as well as taking funds from it that it shouldn’t.
The trains are fighting back. But trains are not not what they used to be. For cargo or passengers. Subways and metros are alive in big cities. And the rural tracks still take hauls. I think especially when gas prices were through the roof it was less expensive for cargo rail transport than trucking. But too many tracks are just gone.
We have a family member who retired from the rails. The Railroad takes much better care of ‘its’ people than the government. One can only hope it doesn’t disappear completely.
I just saw an article about a train stop in Japan. It was staying open for one student, but once the student graduated they were going to close that station. It is all about supply and demand sometimes.
