Yesterday evening when I finally found a little time to stop by WordPress to at least look at my notifications, I was surprised by two posts I’d received from Lisa Elkskeravid from Norway. They are in fact the Award nominations divided that in two posts she’d sent me for a total of 13 awards (some repeated)!
For this award I said: Fortell meg kjære man velge hvilken pris å svare snakke om?

Ah…you think I speak Norwegian… 😉 no, I know how to click Google Translate!
I met Lisa on my Front page…and it was an interesting opportunity for me to use Google Translate! Lisa in fact always writes in Norwegian, and why shouldn’t she, she’s from Norway! We Anglophones have a tendency to think everyone should slog it along writing in English, and we rarely even bother to to read or reply to someone who answers our questions in their own language. Some in fact I’ve read find it suspicious that people do comment in anything but English. I teach ESL (English as a Second Language) and many of my students are quite proficient readers…but have difficulties writing our language…and they are also afraid of embarrassing themselves. So, in the era of the computer and internet…why not read those wonderful comments in Norwegian, Chinese, Italian or whatever that comes our way? Just a though.
Back to the awards
Anyway…I’ve just “collaged” the awards from the two posts of nominations into one huge award.
I’ve found that there are mixed feeling towards awards. Many people either ignore them, or feel obliged to follow the instructions to the letter (which can be very time-consuming, I’ve found). And other’s still make a block post with all the awards they’ve acquired over a period of time and then nominate the whole blogging world, or their community, the way was new to me…
I’ve chosen to nominate all my community friends as the best way to administer these lovely and troublesome blogging awards because:
1.I had a very disconcerting reaction not long after I had begun blogging because of awards. In fact two of my nominees were in clash mode. It put everyone in an embarrassing situation. On the same line, several people whom I’ve personally nominated have replied that they prefer not to be so, and have been put into an embarassing position having to do so.
2. I don’t like chain letters.
3. They are terribly time-consuming and it takes away from my limited time resources for writing and posting photos.
4. I don’t like answering the questions etc. that these awards usually have tied to them.
5. I like an uncluttered page.
So, as much as I appreciate being complimented with a mention for an award…and it’s a nice feeling to be smiled upon by my fellow bloggers I assure you…I will not nominate any single person for this massive award, but I will once again nominate my fellow bloggers and my community friends.
There are those who really deserve awards…so please feel free to accept and follow the rules for this and other awards that I have dedicated to you all…I mean, If someone has created a way to answer various nominations creating a super award…why not reply with massive acceptances! 😉
I would love to hear some comments on what you all think about my idea and about awards in particular.
Have a wonderful day everyone and happy blogging!
