OctPoWriMo Day 14 – The Door (Free Verse) October 14, 2015

this old door
is
sometimes squeaky
sometimes stiff
sometimes wet, with kitty wee
just won’t close if
you try to slam it
has stood silently
with the passage of the ages
fascists fell back
before the partisans
then hippies came
and yuppies went
and every year the church procession
weaves, through the alley right past this door
it’s seen the passing of many souls
generations of families
the young who became old
now through this door
I’ll pass yet for a while
and still it will stand
when I am gone

Pixelventures – Through the Wall (Free Verse – Italian and English)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAsailing
beyond the diamond of my mind
unto the vastness of time
learning voyage
from port to port
I wander
like a sailor without a home
spying eternity

§§§

navigando
oltre il diamante della mia mente
fino alla vastità del tempo
viaggio di conoscienza
di scalo in scalo
vago
come un marinaio senza casa
spiando l’eternità

Poetic Experiment…

Yesterday, Gary Matthews, better known as Ye Olde Foole, put this up on my post:

living
with
volcanoes from
your childhood, well,
you learn
to
listen-

always
an
awareness of
the slightest shifts,
your breath
kept
shallow.

life
spent
struggling to
stay awake for
that inevitable
next
eruption.

It’s a poem with 11 words per stanza.  I’m going to try using the form. and challenge anyone else to do the same!

running
away
slipping along
tumbled down hillsides
getting muddy
isn’t
fun

shouting
bravo!
opera like
at squeaking mice:
that’s enough
highbrow
music

pitter
patter
little feet
slimy spider’s paws
trampling you
tenderly
nightly

Uhm…not much of a poem.  The form is harder than one would expect…

She,
Longing
For fulfillment,
Has tried everything
To insure
Daily
Carresses.

But
When
There’s nothing
Left for her
What can
She
Try?

Constant
Hounding
Stalking calls
Until the other
Runs away
Seeking
Peace?

Her
Anxiety,
Drove him
To break up
The affair
And
Left.

A little better…and you, what can you come up with?  If you feel inspired, write a post or put your poem in the comments below-

Tomorrow, as today,  I’ll be out of town, so I probably won’t be doing much reading or posting.  Ciao, Bastet.

To Ride with Ye Olde Foole

Ye Olde Foole wrote: “obsessed with seeing how short I can make the lines and it still end up with something meaningful…”  Here he wrote a Kyrielle Sonnet with two syllables per line!

I thought I’d try this experiment too…but couldn’t get proper sonnet rhyming and still have something meaningful…I take my hat off to the Maestro!

moonlight

To Ride

I swoon
To ride
The moon
With you

Without
Her light
Our dance
is naught

Stars smile
At me
As tears
Flow down

Some day
We’ll ride
Low moon
We two

But now
I wait.

Just experiments

I revel in Ravel
Satie is my delight
that just doesn’t here imply
I don’t like a rap or two
I like Eminem
I like 50 cent
I love to hear them rhyme
that doesn’t mean that
I listen to them all the time…

when I’m tired
I get fired
up
and
like to just go at it
and lay the
words out
as they come
not really
caring!
I’m not daring
it’s just that
I let My mind
rhyme
and what comes up
is up!

I’m no academic poet
following strict metric
searching for
ever-ending rhymes
the quatrain and sonnets
are great exercises
and for sure
I’ll try them that is true
but the truth is,
if it must be said,
that
I’m not much for masturbation
not even with my mind.

Sorry folks…this is the second post that came out prematurely…one was just a memo to myself!  So, I thought I’d just this hang in there.  But I’m closing down the computer! 😉
