Reflections – Haibun – December 2, 2015

lagoon reflections

That autumn morning, I stopped to look at the lagoon. It was like looking into a topsy-turvy world or an impressionistic painting.  Each ripple of a duck’s dive, a leaf that fell into the water or a breath of wind, made the image shimmer adding a dream-like dimension to the scene.  The algae swayed under the water, a tiny prehistoric forest.

OctPoWriMo Day 25 – Morning Haiku and Waka – October 25, 2015

through the leaves
the splendour of mid-autumn
no thoughts for winter

even as a finch sings
under the hot autumn sun
winter thoughts banished

glorious autumn
the splendour of gold and red
black and white winter

this October morn
gelid days seem far away
and yet a cold wind
whistles through this valley
speaking of ice and snow

Autumn Colours – Morning Waka and Haiku – September 30, 2015

Autumn Colors

painted leaves
along the white stone walls
departing summer

festive dress
colourful consolation
cold winds blow

under the full moon
where are the autumn colours
– dipped in silver

even as the owl
calls from his favourite tree
lamenting summer –
the leaves have all turned red
soon they’ll rain down in the park

the old lady passing
observes the colourful trees
sparrow on a bench
