Tokubetsudesu #54 – wind and moon tanka – July 29, 2015

the summer wind
calls across the lake
whispering softly
invitations to travel
ah – I long to follow

gulls fly overhead
drifting on the evening breeze
the moon rises
couples walk along the shore
far far away from winter

over the mountains
the moon smiles sweetly
her veil half raised
playing coyly with lovers
and love-sick poets

Midsummer Set- July 22, 2015

blue moonah – new slivered moon
spying the mountain valley
midsummer blues

dreams of winter
drifting through the window screens
this midsummer evening

midsummer morning
even the birds drag their tails
ah – the ducks laugh

§§§

youthful memories
twisted sheets in the morning
first refreshing breeze
cooling swim in the cold Med
midsummer love-making

Cherries on a Swing-set – Midsummer – July 21, 2015

Last night we took a mini bus trip up to the archaeological site of San Martino on the outskirts of a small village called Campi just above Riva del Garda (TN) here in Northern Italy.  This is the season of music festivals in our area … and last night was Campi’s turn to host the evening’s event.

Surrounded by trees, in the suggestive ex-Roman village on the side of Mount St. Martino overlooking the valley below, one couldn’t but look forward to an interesting experience.  What we listened to last night though was more than just interesting; it was pure magic!

If you enjoy the beauty and versatility of the human voice, and I do,  a cappella music is a beautiful experience in polyphonic fantasy.  Cherries on a Swing Set are master’s of this art and they mixed their wonderful music – from Folk to Pop – with humorous stagemanship guaranteeing the participation of the public.  The only sad note of the evening was that of course it had to come to an end, but not before the Cherries on a Swing Set were obliged to make two curtain calls!

Fireflies and Fairy lights – June 21, 2014

by Anja

by Anja

under the starlit sky
walking in the fields
beside the woods
a princess met her prince
one Midsummer’s night …

under the starlit sky
fireflies lit the fields
beside the woods
where the couple met to woo
one Midsummer’s night

under the starlit sky
a fairy passing stopped
beside the woods
watched the couple loving
one Midsummer’s night

under the starlit sky
fireflies and fairy light
beside the woods
inspired eternal devotion
one Midsummer’s night.

Anja’s Post for Mindlovesmisery’s Menagerie inspired this little poem … now I’ll try to get down to serous work … maybe with some help 😉
