blushing mountains
paint the world soft purple
touched by winter frost
one step at a time
climbing the highest mountain
three drops of rain
mountain wisdom
spills into the valley
a bubbling spring

from the mountain
the sun dawns from the sea
like a god’s daughter
mountain sunrise
we watch night leave the valley
above the clouds
from Mount Fuji
sunrise creeps over the world
a new day born

Living in the mountains, it’s common to watch the sun rise over the mountains, but unless one goes to the mountain, it’s rare to watch the sun flow from over the valley, illuminating the mountain. I think one of the most beautiful and difficult subjects to write about is a sunrise seen from a mountain top. I can only imagine standing on the crest of the mountain, still in the dark, looking towards the east as the sun begins to rise over the horizon and in the west, darkness still claiming the valley below and there in the middle …
standing in darkness
as illumination dawns

Written for: Carpe Diem #785 goraikou or sunrise seen from a mountain top
golden morning light
colors the mountains orange
bells strikes seven
church tower stand
somber in first morning’s glow
dominating towns
sitting on the roof
taking in the morning sun
singer only peeps
almost a shadow
outlined by the mountains
sweet songster raps
small morning pleasures
presage a beautiful day
fingers crossed
At last,I Am Home
I love to travel
visiting with people
looking at new faces hearing new accents,
seeing the wonders of exciting new places!
The air seems so different,
the sounds and smells
fill my mind and soul!
Then the time comes to leave,
I sit beside the window in the train
saying my fond farewells…
At last, through the pass
I enter from the valleys into our region,
There! I see the mountains!
Ah! Whether it is sunny or raining
my heart quickens
and I know
that at last
I am home.
