Poetry Prompt #16 – Alphabet – July 1, 2014

Warning!!! This poem was written for the weekly poetry prompt created by Oloriel Moonshadow.  What we had to do was choose one letter and begin every word in the poem with that letter … I chose the letter G.  Obviously the poem is written in Giant Lingo 😉 .

Great Gnats!!!
Girly gravid giantess, Grimace Grace,
Grouse Grindstone’s granddaughter,
Graced Greasy Grimily’s “Grovel Garden”
Gulping generously
Green garlicky goodies.

Grimace Grace grunted guardedly:
“Greetings great Genoese gourmet,
Greasy Grimily,
Grand garlicky garnished grump!”

Graciously, Greasy Grimily grins:
“Girly giantess, Grimace Grace, gravely gravid,
Genial gutter-snipe gourmand:
Generous gargle-blasting garden grunts
Gather gleaming …
Gum-tree grappling geraniums!

Giantess Grimace Grace, grumbled grumpily:
“Great glowing Gnats … Grazie, Greasy Grimily,
Grunting goony gory gnome!
Give gathering garden grunts, greetings!
Garlicky garnished gizzard giblets –
Greasy gristly gravy – ground grey gravel garnished!
GO! GO! GO!”

Great Genoese gourmet giant,
Greasy Grimily,
Glowered gloomily,
Guessing ground grey gravel gives
Gristly gravy, garnish …
Greatly galvanizing,
Gullible gourmand gravid giantesses,
Giving genial grape-nutty goodness.
Good grassy garlicky gooey gunk,
Guarantees gracious gravidy!

Going – Going –Gone
Greasy Grimily galloped gracelessly
Grunting grimly:
“Great Gnats!
Grimace Grace’s getting gormless gloomy!
Great graceless goose …
Grrrrr … Gravid giantesses get grumpy!”

Greasy Grimily gathered garlic,
Grass, gravy goo, gunk
gizzard giblets …
Giving Grimace Grace’s
Great gravid grossness,
Garlicky garnished gizzard giblets –
Greasy gristly gravy – ground grey gravel garnished …
Guaranteeing Grouse Grindstone’s
Gad-fly generosity:
Grimace Grace gobbled,
Glowing gravid grateful grins.

*Gradisci = Do you want some.

Moon Garden – May 1, 2014 (Free Verse)

By Oloriel Moonshadow

The night was bright,
Shone down the moon,
Upon my weary head …
The garden though was
A Mystic ruse, a shadow
Though beautiful,
And so, I fled.
It was colored
In Cyanide and Cherry
And though inviting,
I knew it’s venom.
Inconstant moon,
With your shining light …
You promised me the world.

The sweetness of a fairy garden …
The sweetness of romance.
Your seductive call came to me
As I walked the garden path …

“Come to me and be my muse
Come and be my lady fair,
I’ll give you sweet-meats of a plenty,
And a silver carriage too.
Write your odes and tell your tales …
Or surely I’ll behead you
You will be my own true love
Until you start to wither.”

Sweet was the thought
To find true love,
I would have heeded your mystic call,
Walk upon the silver shores
Of love. ..
Until I realized …
Ephemeral was your magic light.
Soon darkness would fill the sky again,
You could give me a single bright illusion
Impermanence and darkness
Are your reality.

So I walk under the sun instead,
Illusions are still aplenty …
But the colors of a morning garden
Give me far more satisfaction.

Shipwreck – Front and back Acrostic – NaPoWriMo – April 15, 2014

Shipwreck – front and back acrostic

Soggy winter, hoary wraith-like wisps,
Hauled my ship into water’s which,
Immobilized me with fear, tried and tried as might I,
Prod at the wretched prow to change its dip,
When the shoals  … somehow,
Reared up!  Clawing mercilessly at my rudder.
Egad! My ship would have to die!
(Callously, so that I could write this acrostic
Knowingly, I created in my mind, a shipwreck.)
