Our Reality … Free Verse

Our Reality

Poets, writers of like kin
Know that nothing ever really ends
We may not find our friends
Of yesteryear,
Yet somehow they’re always sitting there
They’re the traces in our memory
Our reality …

Trifecta closes…it’s been fun, you will be missed.  Love, Bastet.

The compliment – Trifextra Week 103

“What a beautiful dress! You’re beautiful” Matthew said.

“I  wasn’t the other evening?  I just knew it!” Mary wailed.

“No, no,  you were beautiful!”

“Come on you just said I was awful!”

“No! That wasn’t what I meant.

Trifecta says:
“On now to our quick and dirty Trifextra prompt. Plenty of times over the past two and a half years, we’ve given you the beginning of a story and asked for you to complete it. This time, we are giving you the end, and we are asking you to start it for us. We want 33 words in addition to and preceding the following:

That wasn’t what I meant.

So, to clarify, you write 33 words and then you tag on the five that we’ve given you. Our five come after your 33 for a grand total of 38.”  Pop over and read what other writer’s have done with the prompt…or maybe you’d like to participate, it’s fun!

Fickle Eros – Trifextra #102

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Fickle Eros

Thus, the sweet song ends,
Never shall we meet again.
What was a passionate ode,
Has now become a tragedy!
This is the way of fickle Eros,
Now, you’ll be just a memory.

Modern Alchemists

toiling over tomes
of modern magic
and alchemy
new age wizards
of compound interest
study the pitfalls
of inflation
in fearful fascination
under
constant scrutiny
of wayward dragons
dedicated
to dangerous thoughtless
speculation!

This week’s Trifextra challenge: This week we’re asking for 33 of your own words inspired by the picture.

Trifextra: a 33 word laugh

Limerick

There once was a gardener from Kent
who never could take a quick hint
he pulled out some wild flowers
then he used magical powers
to induce a sweet damsel to get hitched.

This week’s Trifextra prompt. Charles Dickens, in A Christmas Carol, wrote “There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.” We are giving you exactly 33 words to make us laugh out loud and spread some festive cheer.

(Oh well, gave it the old college try.)

Trifextra: myopic dazzle basin

Trifextra: Week Ninety-Seven

La Gazza Ladra

Yes she’s myopic…
However, the dazzle of a basin of diamonds would attract her.  Even from hundreds of miles away.
Explains the diamond heist I read about yesterday.
Her name is Madge Magpie!

—————————————————————————————————————————————

Prompt: write 30 words around myopic, dazzle and basin.

Thanksgiving?

No leftovers for me
nor black Friday
We Thanksgiving not,
In “sunny” Italy!
I spent the day working.
My students I taught,
From some blogs I copied
And we had a great laugh!

On to the quick and dirty Trifextra. This weekend we are assuming that many of you are slogging your way through leftovers and family bickering (or is that just us?) and thus we’re going way easy on you. This weekend we are asking for a 33-word free write. Give us whatever you’ve got.

Sleep

She is your prisoner
so sleep
custodian of your serenity
she’s surrendered
so sleep
the magic of dreams
no longer enjoyed
talents renounced
her life, your shadow
all for your happiness
so sleep.

TrifeXXXtra: Week 94 (Erotica) Freeverse: To Ride with Chopin

And now on to a completely different type of prompt. As you may or may not know, November 15 is National Erotica Day. Trifecta is not an erotica-specific type of place, but we never shy away from a chance to stretch our creative limbs, and we hope you’ll join us as we dive in to celebrate this quirky day.

We are asking for an open write this weekend–33 to 333 words of erotic writing. No specific words need to be used, and we aren’t necessarily banning any either.

To ride with Chopin

Chopin in the background
on a warm summer evening
we laid upon our tatami
exploring each other’s body
each passage of the music
entered into my soul
as I played your magic flute
following lovingly the nocturne’s
liquid flow
just as the music crescendos
reaching almost to its climax
suddenly it’s stops…
and  another movement starts

you played me like a piano
with lips and fingers moving
along my back and thighs
reaching at last my mound
and again the music quickened
as your lips and fingers played
until just as the music crescendos
reaching almost to its climax
suddenly it stops…
and another movement starts

I climb upon your stead
and then began my ride
following Chopin’s lead
we galloped along
the growing sensation’s tide…
Piano..pianissimo
until the music flowed
into forte fortissimo
and suddenly
exploded…

into its triumphant finale.

the evening sun was setting
a bird sang out in glee
and in that special moment
united were we three…
you, Gaia and me.

Trifextra: Week Ninety-Three

For Trifextra: Week Ninety-Three:
Buddhist cosmology tells of Trāyastriṃśa, or the Heaven of Thirty-Three gods, which rule over the human realm. This weekend we’re asking for exactly 33 of your own words about a god of your own devising that shares heaven with the other thirty-two gods. Make it yours and have fun with it.
