Plans – a Haibun

They walked holding hands along the boardwalk.  They talked about their life together, about their children, and the grandkids he’d probably never see.  The news wasn’t good, yet it was just so hard to believe that danger was really there, ticking inside him, giving definition to future.

“Well what do you think we should do?” He asked.
“I guess we play it by ear, not much else we can do.” She replied. “What do you say we go on an early vacation?”

“Sounds good to me.”

  1. Loved the positive vibe here inspite of the underlying bad news Georgia-best way to deal with such things-take each day as it comes and live it fully:-)

    • Basically…one can imagine that death is always near…I think that concentrating on that point would tend to drain vitality out of ones life. Glad you liked this orientation for the story.
