windy afternoon
a lark caught in the current
o’er fields of grain
in a field of wheat
cicadas serenade
[a farmer sleeps]
fresh turned soil
crows fly o’er the empty fields
searching out seeds
a field of snow
perfect white canvas
tales, yet untold

Here are a few examples about this modern kigo by Jane herself:
a field of snow
fenced in by fields
of snow
the winter moon
diminishing into snowflakes
open fields
dark fences
encircling the snowy field
eyelashes blink
stitching together
now-covered fields
blackbird wings

And here is Chèvrefeuille’s lovely haiku:
virgin field
disgracing it would be a sin
the first bare step

it all flows so naturally. I’d like to say effortlessly, but I know that isn’t true. Lot of thought behind it. Great choice of the Van Gogh. I hadn’t seen this one before.

Thanks Joanna, I do so love Van Gogh and that image came from a post on Wikipedia dedicated to his painting of fields of grain which you can find here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheat_Fields_(Van_Gogh_series) there were many paintings I’d never seen as well a treasure trove!

Each and every one a gem on its own. Now the photo of the Van Gogh has convinced me that I must tour the museum while in Amsterdam!

Are you talking about the tour you mentioned a while back, through Europe? Or are you in Holland?
