Empty Beach – September 1, 2014

empty beach

on the empty beach
wind whipping the angry waves
where lovers once walked
a girl sits on a park bench
her young love has departed

gulls call overhead
with the sea’s invitation
forget departures
her tears fall with the red leaves
looking at the empty beach

  1. Very, very nicely composed! You even squeezed an autumn kigo into this love story!

Very timely too with all the schools open ing here in the states after labor day… All the beaches closed … Such a lonely, empty time of year.

    Great post!

    • Thanks … here the schools will be opening again too … although a lot of politicians throughout Italy are pushing for the schools to reopen in October (like it did around 30 years ago) in order to makeup for the summer economic losses … summer has been a disaster with all the rain as you can imagine.
