Dawn Thoughts – June 26, 2014

June 26 Dawn

June 26 Dawn

(Elfje – Silence)

silence
mountains await
the first chatter
of happy singing birds
quiet

(Tanaga)

Pink sky streams around grey clouds
Over the mountains in shrouds
In silence – I hesitate
Early morn  – I meditate

 (Haiku)

odd  sound of silence
no chittering in the wind
summer dawn

Have a great morning and stop by Through the Eye of Bastet for a little morning reflection!

The Tanaga is a type of Filipino poem, consisting of four lines with seven syllables each with the same rhyme at the end of each line — that is to say a 7-7-7-7 Syllabic verse, with an AABB rhyme scheme

Saturday Night – Shadorma (plus elfje and tilus)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASaturday Night

stale beer stink
peanuts and pretzels
honky tonk
football games
men sitting around at night
some shooting the breeze

wife at home worrying
is he drunk
fear

frustration
sogged down in strong beer
Saturday
pay-day blues
another week’s work over
no where else to go

black
his humor
as he leaves
his pals that night,
angry

swollen ire
inside emptiness
wife beater,
his fist flies
no way else to let off steam
police come too late

Written for Shadorma Photo Prompt # 11

Haiku Mix – Midday Nap

Elfje (shaken not stirred 😉 )
sleep
caress
the child’s eyes
sweet midday nap
rest

Elfje
afternoon
after lunch
my eyes, heavy
wanting only to dream,
sleep

American Sentence
Birds still at midday, all is silent, as we nap in June’s summer heat.

Haiku

summer heat invites
young and old to slumber
in cool shadows

Shadorma

caressing
sea breeze lulls to sleep
summer day
midday nap
dreaming of gulls and sail boats
I sleep away the heat

Haibun

When I was a child, I never liked to have to sleep in the day-time, though my mother did.  Coming to Italy and then living in Africa, I grew to appreciate the “siesta”,  eventually and now, as I sit in the afternoons, ostensibly reading in my easy chair…I often find I’ve taken a nap.  😉

life circles ’round
sleep the adults like children
in the midday heat
